Baseball America Says Yankees Miss Playoffs
Over at Baseball America they took a preview at the AL teams and here is what they said about the Yankees:
" QUICK TAKE: At least one team among the Indians, Red Sox, Tigers and Yankees has to miss the playoffs. We say it will be New York, though the Yankees will exceed 90 wins for the eighth straight year.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: LHP Andy Pettitte. He has had a trying offseason, and if that hurts his chances of winning 15 games again, an otherwise young New York rotation may not recover.
TOP 25-AND-UNDER PLAYER: 2B Robinson Cano (No. 16).
TOP NOT-QUITE PROSPECT: RHP Phil Hughes (No. 4).
TOP ROOKIE: RHP Joba Chamberlain (No. 5).
TOP PROSPECT: RHP Joba Chamberlain (No. 3)."
I strongly disagree with this. If any of those teams do not make it, it will be the Indians. They have really done nothing to get better and have a shaky closer. The Yankees on the other hand of become really stable at pitching. We all know their offense is fine pretty much an all-star at every position, but they had problems with pitching last year. Well now with Hughes healthy, Kennedy starting, Joba in the pen, and Mussina pitching well in spring training you have to put the Yankees at least in the wild card spot, possibly even the winner of the AL East. This should be a good year and fun to watch all these exciting young pitchers.
