Mets v. Dodgers 3-2 (W)

Wow what a game this was. This is the type of game you would have expected the 2006 New York Mets to win, but not the 2008 Mets. From top to bottom everyone was solid and did their job helping the Mets earn their 5th victory in 6 games. With this the Mets are now back at .500 with a record of 27-27.

Mike Pelfrey was outstanding tonight to try an earn himself a spot in the rotation with Pedro Martinez returning Tuesday night. As the night went on it appeared that he just got stronger and stronger. His fastball was just popping the mitt and it showed in the results. 7 innings pitched, 2 runs (both earned), 6 strikeouts, and 1 walk. The bad part was he gave up 7 hits, however, working around them showed some poise.

Even though Pelf pitched well enough to win the Mets didn't score any runs for him so Duaner Sanchez, who pitched a scoreless 8th, picked up his 2nd win. The 9th was beautifully pitched by Billly Wagner who struck out the side on 15 pitches.

The offense was boring until the 8th when Jonathan Broxton came in. David Wright lead off with a deep double to right field to get the rally started. Next came up Carlos Beltran who tied the game with a 2-run bomb for his 5th home run of the season.

The same hero from a couple nights ago against the Marl
ins struck again when Fernando Tatis hit a single up the middle to score pinch runner Nick Evans from 2nd.
