The King Lives On!
Tsn.ca: Lundqvist will earn $6.875 million per year for a total of $41.25 million over the six year period with a limited no-trade clause that would commence in the 2009-10 season. The Rangers and Lundqvist have been working on a deal since the start of 2008 because the goaltender was on a one-year contract. Without a new deal, the 25-year-old would become a restricted free-agent on July 1." ...This is great news. When he is on King Henrik is a top 5 goalie in the league and is dominant. He knows how to win and what it takes to win. The amount per year is a little high, but you have to over pay when someone can hit the open market and sign. This means there is a 80% chance that top prospect Al Montoya will be traded before the deadline, possibly in a deal for Dan Boyle. Just rejoice that the King has signed long term.
"The New York Rangers and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist have agreed on a new six-year contract.
