Raider Rumblings

ESPN:

  • Warren Sapp's 13-year NFL career officially ended when his retirement was posted on the Oakland Raiders' Web site.
  • Wide receiver Javon Walker, released by the Denver Broncos on Friday, agreed to a deal with the division-rival Oakland Raiders. The terms of the deal call for Walker to receive a six-year, $55 million contract that includes more than $16 million in guarantees and pays him roughly $27 million over the first three years of the deal.
That is two big time players retiring on the same day. Both players had excellent careers and some of the best at their positions. This Walker signing is very interesting to me. It gives the Raiders some nice weapons to compliment #1 overall pick Jamarcus Russell. Right now they are projected to draft Glenn Dorsey who would replace Sapp on the defensive line, but if Jake Long slips to them and they sure up the O-line they could be REALLY good in a few years and then Gibril Wilson would look like a genius.
