The New MSG

"Madison Square Garden executives yesterday unveiled a $500-million plan to renovate the inside of the arena and said there is no plan to build a new Garden elsewhere. "We are committed to moving forward," said Hank Ratner, vice chairman of the Garden and Cablevision. "Our fans will get everything they want here. We are not going to be moving." The Garden announced last week that it was pulling out of a proposed multi-billion-dollar plan to build a new arena across the street at the Farley Post Office, where a new train station would replace Penn Station and be dubbed Moynihan Station, in honor of the late Sen. Daniel P. Moynihan. The Garden's current plan is to use Cablevision funds to turn the inside of the arena into a state-of-the-art facility in time for the 2011-12 Rangers and Knicks seasons. Work will begin in the spring of 2009 and be done primarily over the summers of 2009 and 2010, likely displacing the WNBA's Liberty for all or part of its seasons. No Knicks or Rangers games will be moved."

Those pictures look really good and it will be nice to see an updated version of MSG which if you have ever been there is not the pretties looking building in the world.
