It Was the Best of Times It Was the Worst of Times....
First, Billy Wagner, calls out his teammates after the game with this action according to Metsblog:
According to eye-witnesses, Wagner directed his final comments in the general direction of Carlos Delgado’s locker, saying:
“Can somebody tell me why the (bleep) the closer being interviewed and I didn’t even play, while they’re over there not getting interviewed? I get it, they’re gone. (Bleeping) shocker.”
...The first part I do not agree with. Although I love Billy you just cannot call your teammates out in front of the media. Maybe to do behind closed doors, while having a conversations, but now when the whole world can see it. This is a situations were a good manager should step in and help fix these problems. Knowing Willie he will go to Wags and say 'We are a good team we just aren't winning right now' and think everything will be fine.
The 2nd comment hit it right on the nose, however. If you stay after the game and say yourself you sucked it would be over, but when you don't say anything you leave it wide open for reporters to get creative and write a whole bunch of crap, because honestly that is what they are paid to do. As we end all posts please fire Willie.
