Mets v. Yankees (Mets Win 7-4)
Mets take game one of the two game series. Andy Pettitte started the game off on fire, but once the 4th inning came he was done for throwing 40 pitches in the inning alone. His counterpart Johan Santana was just spectacular except for the 3 home runs he gave up. Santana went 7.2 innings and picked up the win Saturday afternoon. Billy Wagner came on in the 8th for a 4 out save, but backed up his talk by picking up the save.

HR » NYM: J. Reyes (3), D. Wright (8) - NYY: J. Giambi (8), D. Jeter (2), B. Abreu (5)
Boy was Andy Pettitte amazing at the start. He started off striking out the first 5 batters and then picked off Moises Alou with a move that even fooled Jason Giambi at 1st. Derek Jeter helped him out with a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 1st, but when the 4th inning came it was all over. Back-to-back soft hits by Ryan Church and David Wright and a walk to Alou loaded the bases. Carlos Delgado popped out and Damion Easley struck out making it look like the the Yanks were going to have a magic escape and the Mets have another bad game, but then Brian Schneider came to the plate and walked tying the game and Luis Castillo drove in another to take the lead. It was a 40-pitch inning and Santana didn't give him rest by getting through the bottom of the inning on 6 pitches.
The Mets really took of in 7th inning when the Yankees brought in Kyle Farnsworth. Jose Reyes led off with a homer down the right field line followed by a Church walk and Wright 2-run home run. Giambi responded in the bottom half with a home run to lead it off the inning.
In the 8th inning, after Santana got the first 2 outs, he fell into trouble with a Bobby Abreu home run and Jeter double. The Mets called on a very talkative Billy Wagner to get the 4-out save. Wagner got the first out without breaking a sweat, but the last three did not come so easy. Giambi and Robinson Cano got back-to-back singles, however, Billy got Melky Cabrera and Shelley Duncan to pop out and finished it off with a strikeout of Morgan Ensberg.
This is why the Mets paid Santana so much money and hope it can be a turning point in their season.
