Islanders Trying to Get D Help

Isles interested in McCabe
Bryan McCabe | Maple Leafs | Interested: Islanders?
The Islanders have had talks with the Maple Leafs to reacquire D Bryan McCabe, according to the Ottawa Sun.

But like captain Mats Sundin, McCabe has a no-trade clause and has told Toronto media he wants to stay with the Leafs.

McCabe began his NHL career with the Islanders and his wife is from Long Island so that might be a destination he'd seriously consider.

McCabe's deal, which runs out in the 2010-11 campaign, carries an average salary of $5.75 million U.S. per season.

Earlier I posted that both Brendan Witt and Andy Sutton will be out a few weeks and to stay in the playoff race a move like this is a must. McCabe has a great shot and could be a great leader and power play quarterback for them. McCabe has been linked to the Islanders since the off-season and back then said he would waive it for the Islanders and now he says he won't.

The Maple Leafs have been having trouble with their players with NTC and have had Tomas Kaberle already vetoed a trade to Philly.
