The New York Rangers announced today that they had re-signed young defenseman Daniel Girardi to a 2-year extension. the whole deal is worth $3.1 million dollars in which he will make $1.5 million in '08-'09 and $1.6 million in '09-'10. He was set to become a restricted free agent after this season and now will hit the open market after 2010. Girardi who was an undrafted free agent has really stepped up since being called up towards the end of last year. He has been one of the Ranger's top 2 defenseman and is still only 24-years-old.
