NY Scoreboard 4/9

The Mets defeated the Phillies 8-2. Mike Pelfrey stepped on his game tonight and knew it and felt good about it. He only pitched 5 innings, but only gave up 2 runs and struck out 3. He has great stuff and only needs his confidence to be successful. Sloppy game by the Phils who had 4 errors which means the Mets only had 2 earned runs out of 8. Angel Pagan now leads the team with 8 RBI's.

The Yankees lost to the Royals 4-0. All I have is two words for you ZACK GREINKE. Man this guy has been one of my favorite pitchers for a while (Verlander, Harden, Greinke) and has finally overcome his mental issues and pitched 8 scoreless innings. A-Rod did have 2 hits but the Yankees only had 7 total hits and hit into 3 double plays.

The Knicks beat the Bobcats 109-107
. I really just don't know what to do with them, but they are on a 3 game win streak which is amazing for them. Despite the fact that no Knick had over 18 points (Jamal Crawford) and 3 Bobcat's had over 24 (Okafor, Richardson, Felton) they won so kiss Rose goodbye.

The Rangers opened the playoffs with a bang defeating the Devils 4-1
. Brendan Shanahan got the playoffs started with a 2nd period goal assisted by Scott Gomez and Sean Avery. The only bump in an amazing game by Henrik Lundqvist came when Paul Martin tied the game up in the 2nd period. Ryan Callahan put in a hustle goal and a mistake my Marty Brodeur, Avery scored by being in perfect position for a rebound, and Nigel Dawes scored his 1st career playoff goal when Shanahan gave him the puck with with an empty net a classy move. The Rangers looked real good and Gomez got to stick it to his old team with 3 assists. If Henrik continues to play this well the rest of the NHL better watch out.
