Today the Mets have announced that Claudio Vargas has been called up and will pitch tomorrow night, previously thought to have been Adam Bostick. To make room for Vargas last night's starter, Nelson Figueroa, was designated for assignment.

Right-handed reliever Jorge Sosa was also DFA and outfielder Angel Pagan has been placed on the 15-day DL with an injured shoulder that occur ed against the LA Dodgers.

Matt Wise has recalled and Fernando Tatis has been brought up.

...Wise pitched a scoreless inning last night, so his moving up was unexpected to come today. There was talk Joe Smith was going to be optioned down luckily they did not. Tatis has been doing extremely well in AAA with 12 homeruns and 31 RBI's. He should serve as a viable back up to Delglado and the OF. Sosa and Figueroa were givens after their recent struggles, especially Sosa.
