Chien-Ming Wang continued his excellence this season. Even though the Yanks lost Wang was spot on throwing 7 innings of 1 run ball lowering his ERA from 3.12 to 2.90. His sinker was working like it should, forcing the opponents to ground into 2 double plays.

Joba Chamberlain came into the game throwing hard. He hit as high as 99 mph according to MLB.com. He worked his way into some trouble, but then also worked his way out by getting Cliff Floyd to ground out into a double play. Kyle Farnsworth continues to have a spectacular season throwing a scoreless 9th innings.
Mariano Rivera had his 1st blemish of the season when he gave up an RBI single to Gabe Gross allowing Jonny Gomes to score from 2nd. Gomes had pinch run for Cliff Floyd and stole 2nd prior to the hit.
Again on the offensive side the Yanks were stagnant. Hideki Matsui accounted for all of the offense with a solo homer of of Troy Percival to tie the game up in the 9th inning. Derek Jeter hit a triple off of Edwin Jackson, but failed to score and the best game of all was Jason Giambi who reached base all 4 times, twice by single, twice by walk.
